wtf are you talking about? lol. Jeri Ryan (7 of 9) was one of the best things to happen to Voyager. that show was getting stagnant, what with all the Kazon episodes, chakotay's dumb vision quests, etc. I agree that she herself was nothing more than eye-candy (i mean, she was borg, so it's not like she needed to be a good actress or anything). it was her character, however, that made the story much better. it was awesome watching how her relationship with Janeway (and the rest of the crew, for that matter) grew over the years.

on the surface, it was a cheap move by the producers. but in the end it provided a much richer and long-lasting vein for the story. i was quite sad when that series ended.

This is what i'm afraid of as well. Why is it that Lucas has an obsession with ruining great franchises, while at the same time Speilberg has an obsession with aliens? this duo is what destroyed the recent indiana jones (and likely caused an entire generation to avoid seeing the originals).

i just hope the same thing doesn't happen to the new ST movie. although i did enjoy ST: First Contact.

One of my great trekky friend loved the movie, this can't be bad. I think the review I've quoted above sums up extremely well the movie. J.J.Abrams is setting a brilliant path for a new Star Trek, close to what made the original ideas of Gene what we love.

I still see Star Trek, and always will, from the perspective of Patrick Stewart having a cup of Earl Grey tea, or Nana Visitor replicating yet another raktajino. I never really took to any of the other series, though at times, they did sate my Star Trek appetite.

I am hoping that the movie bodes well for the S.T. fanbase, but I don't really see it capturing the hearts of the die-hard fans. In its efforts to capture a new audience, it will be futile in carrying on the torch that has made S.T. into what it is today. I do hope that I am wrong, but from what I have seen, too much has been changed for my liking.

Whenever I talk to someone about ST, they automatically comment on how fictional the whole thing seems at a glance. I always find this amusing, because ST has always been about far more than the story of a far off universe, or a black dude wearing some weird visor. It really transcends its own existence, that's why it has been around for so long. The story, however corny at times, is used to perpetuate a certain set of ideals. I am curious to see how the new movie will attempt to further this mindset into today's market. I will be seeing this movie, regardless of what or how I may feel about it. I hope to see one of you there, watching along with me, and enjoying every minute of it.

also i like to say, how come spock has so many emotion in this movie is beyond my understanding, and spock taking a punch at someone (Rage/anger)??? doesn't Vulcan have some kind of ability to render someone unconscious with a touch to the shoulder? its illogical!

Spock is half-breed, vulcan-human. Hence his point of view. I believe many aspects of this movie are not purely loyal to the existing ST content.

The legendary Tribbles! Originally shown in the Star Trek Original series, episode "The Trouble With Tribbles", then the exact same Original episode was used in a totally different, original angle in the Deep Space 9 episode "Trials and Tribble-ations" where they mix the new characters into the footage from the old episode (and they're trying to find the one tribble that is in fact a bomb in the middle of this pile of tribbles, the new "needle in a haystack"

Pretty good movie, I saw it yesterday after school, but WAYYYYYY overrated by Rottentomatoes. It was great, but about the same as watchmen. Very unique presentation of storyline too!

DS9 has a lot of memorable episodes, it's difficult to rate them. TNG's "The best of both worlds" (look at this interpretation from Stewart Shursh View Post

I'm a huge fan of Garak/Robinson, whose whole role in DS9 is quite unique and his interpretation of the character very refined, but Picard/Stewart and Data/Spiner are my preferred actors.

In a lighter chapter, v'ger's doctor/Picardo was quite entertaining.

That's what my trekkies friend told me (they want to the theatre dressed in Starfleet uniform

), which is quite good considering how franchise-altering the movie is.

I couldn't agree with you more. I've watched it a couple times now, over the years. I'll even go so far as to say, it has grown on me so much so that I prefer it over TNG.

I didn't really like the episode where he returns home. That vulgar imprint on his older brother's face just seems like he was trying a little too hard. I know that many still hold that episode in high regard, but it all seemed a little too overdone for my liking.

I often found him too annoying to bare at times, along with Neelix and Kes. In any case, I found Voyager to be insipid compared to DS9 and TNG.

One thing that ruined it for me. Along the same lines as the "Prequels" in Star Wars ruined things. Modernizing things that happened in the past.

The enterprise should have had knobs, and buttons, and flashing/glowing lights instead of touchscreen computers...

If you are going to make a prequel, it should have newer technology than the future, unless of course if using the FAR OVERUSED time traveling...

I saw it on wednesday (release day) in the Netherlands. The movie was mind blowing. The story/ plot was original. The cast did a great job. Nemoy has a guest role. "Syler" lifted the role of Spock to a new level. The special effects where awsome. I was entertained from begining to end.

This movie will bring new life to the franchise. Expect sequals and somewhere along the line a brand new series. I predict a new generation of trekys.

Oldschool Treky's may be disapointed; but someone always is

I give the movie a 9; and thats because I feel there is always room for improvement. Buck for buck you wont find better value for your money at the boxoffice at current time.

Go see it; and wach Star Trek the way it was always intended to be! You wont regret it.

They didnt even ask Shatner. IMO the only role William is nowadays elligable for is that of an elderly in the remake of `cocoon.`
